Other Life Passage Celebration
Life is simply full of ritual opportunities! Here are just a few that we have created
Adolescent Girl’s Coming of Age: This is a simple, fun ritual, usually for girls around 12 years old, that includes mom, “girlfriends”, aunts and other female friends and neighbors gather to celebrate the special joys of becoming a woman.
Sweet Sixteen: In another generation, young women were “presented” to society at around age 16. That was a way of telling the world they’re would soon be ready for marriage. Well, that no longer being the case, age 16 is a sweet age for a young woman and an important time in her development. Female friends and family members gather in a joyful, playful time to celebrate this time of her life.
Wedding Shower: Journeys of the Heart encourages all brides to be conscious of every aspect of wedding planning. The wedding shower is an opportunity for women to gather around the bride in joy and affection. The shower can be much more than gifts and eating cake (fun though that clearly is). It can be about telling stories and the sharing of hopes and dreams among the participants.
Baby Shower: There is simply nothing more meaningful in the life of a woman than the impending birth of a child.
The baby shower can provide a joy-filled experience of women supporting one another. Together those gathered can ritualize the creation of a simple gift that the mother-to-be can keep with her during the process of delivery or adoption of a child.
Menopause: A profoundly important time in the life of a woman. Whether or not she is a mother, this is a hugely life-altering time. It is a time for the female “village” to tell stories about what has gone before and plan for the times ahead. Menopause is a hugely empowering time in the life of women. We celebrate that.
