One of Robert Maliff’s favorite quotes is from Frank Clark, a politician from a time long ago: “Most smiles are started by another smile.” Rob takes that approach to life … and also to one of life’s most important events – your wedding ceremony!
Rob loves creating and officiating all kinds of weddings, from beautiful downtown celebrations to sweet little backyard or beach gatherings and finds wonder and awe in all of them. His attraction to the beauty of ritual and ceremony was evident from a young age when he eagerly became an altar server at his family’s local parish and continues to this day as he serves as a lector at his current one.
Rob grew up in the Asbury Park area where he grew up swimming, surfing, and diving in the waves for hours each summer day – something he still tries to do when there’s a breeze out of the west and the waves are breaking. Never underestimate the beauty and healing power of the ocean!
Rob is proud Duke grad and is a biomedical engineer by training. He has spent his professional career in the healthcare industry, from DOD healthcare planning to patient care technology consulting to software sales. The mission of improving patient care (even indirectly) has been a guiding force throughout his career and this passion led him to complete his MBA in Healthcare Administration from Temple University.
Living in Philadelphia for the past 25+ years also causes Rob to smile – a lot. Philly is where he learned to row on the Schuylkill, where he became skilled at brewing ales and discovered interesting breweries, where his passion for gardening was unearthed and where he’s made many dear friends. Most importantly, Philadelphia is where Rob met his husband and where they finally got married after some Supreme Court stuff. Rob holds tightly to that right.
When not officiating weddings, you’ll find Rob shopping at Reading Terminal and Clark Park Farmer’s Market, meandering the parks and paths along both beautiful River Drives with his Jack Russell mix Busby, gardening at the Woodlands, rooting on the Union (technically down in Chester) and Phillies, and simply soaking in all of the history and good dining and drinking establishments throughout this great city.
Meeting wonderful couples, creating beautiful ceremonies, and officiating weddings helps keep the smiles spreading, and Rob is honored and delighted to help you with yours!
Dear Rob,
Thank you so much for being such an important part of our wedding day. Your guidance, warmth, and the care you put into our ceremony meant more to us than we can express! You made our wedding so personal and meaningful. We will never forget this day!
Thank you again!
We had an amazing experience with Rob from Journeys of the Heart!
We needed a last-minute officiant for our wedding in New Hope, PA, and Rob was so gracious, organized, and accommodating. He truly gave us the full experience on such short notice.
Before the wedding, he took the time to meet with both me and my husband individually to craft an intimate and personal ceremony that felt true to us. He even shared the full script ahead of time, allowing us to make adjustments so we knew exactly what to expect. It was such a relief to know everything was thoughtfully planned.
On the wedding day, Rob was incredibly friendly and warm. Our families loved chatting with him! Even when it started to rain during the ceremony, he stuck it out with us and kept the moment joyful and meaningful.
We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant. Rob made our day truly special, and we’re so grateful for his kindness, professionalism, and heartfelt approach.
I called Rob to officiate at my daughter’s wedding spontaneously. He was super accommodating.
My daughter didn’t want to write her own vows for this simple, small ceremony, so after a brief conversation with her, Rob scripted the perfect words that encompassed this perfect union.
He is professional, witty and polished. Rob added to the perfect night!
Thank you so much for helping to make our wedding day special!
You made the ceremony planning easy. We always felt like we were in good hands.
Hi Rob,
Thank you so much for everything. You helped us create a moment that felt so meaningful, and we are grateful for the care and thought you put into our ceremony, the most important part of our day.
Warmly,
We can’t thank you enough for being our officiant – we thought the ceremony was perfect and many people agreed!
